You have written," This, in effect, encouraged the Iranian intelligence officials to enter a close dialogue with prominent members of the Iranian Baha’i community, which ultimately led to a clear definition of the structure and functions of the groups of individuals who, under the titles of Yaran and Khademin, until recently operated to organize and direct the affairs of the Baha’i Community at local and national levels." This is somehow misleading. They way you have put it, it is as if, the IRI and Baha'is on khademin or Yaran groups were sort of colaborating. That was not exactly the case. It was IRI implicitly accepting this system of organizing internal affairs of the Baha'i community, and constantly controling and wanting the khademin to inform them of their minutest activities. It was a hierarchical relation not collaborative. They were the boss, of course.

Isn't it clear? The Iranian clergy cannot tolerate Baha'is, of a group of people who have managed to operate with sincere, democratic motivations despite the enormous obstacles that have been thrown in their path. It reveals the strength of the greatest principle taught by Baha'u'llah: Unity. I believe the Baha'is of Iran are unbreakable so long as they keep faith. This is a principle for which the clergy should yearn.

I am very impressed by the way you have tackle the problem of persecution of the Baha'is in Iran. Its God's will that as His Instrument you are bringing to light this new world order which will bring Love, Unity, Brotherhood and Peace. I pray god to help you in your endeavor to enlighten those who have prejudices for the Baha'i Faith

A very thoughtful and comprehensive article. It is hoped that unity and cohesion among the enlightened and the Bahais would bring a great momentum in the destiny of the Iran, the homeland of Baha'u'llah! I need to admit that the media have been very useful in bringing about change;it seems those involved in TV,Radio,Press ,online and in the real world need to increase their energy to transfer the truths so as to bring victory for the establishment of justice and equity in Iran.

Thank you so much for writing this very informative editorial. The information and analysis you provide help everyone understand the complexities of the struggle of the Baha'is of Iran. You are also doing an exemplary job in keeping all those concerned updated on the many developments that occur daily.

Through gallant acts of the noble hearted people everywhere, day by day, hour by hour, minute by minute, second by second, the Baha’is of Iran are getting closer and closer to their Emancipation.

(Daniel 12:3) “And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever.”

"convince the ruling clergy to abandon its state of denial, acknowledge the legitimacy of alternative sources of religious authority, and confer upon the Baha’i community of Iran the right to assemble and maintain its sacred institutions - and to be officially and fully recognized." This is never goimh to happen while Mullahs have power. Have we not learned that yet?

It feels a little like the Persian government banishing Baha'u'llah eventually to Akka and then calling the Baha'is spies for Israel a hundred years later.

Their agenda is pretty transparent to an outsider. I pray they will be touched by God and act in a way that is congruent with the age in which we live.

An excellent and helpful post. Many thanks.

We all have to keep working to help emancipate the Baha'is in Iran and to convince the regime to accept that the Baha'i community should have the right to practise its religion (including having its administrative bodies) freely. This will be good for Iran.
