On Sunday, June 28, 2009, Human Rights Activists of Iran and Iran Press News reported in Persian the following which appears below in translation:
In the middle of night on Tuesday, June 23, 2009, unknown assailants attacked the shops belonging to two Baha’i residents of Semnan.
They used rocks and stones to raid Payam Shahdeman’s shop, where he sells filters, and on the same evening, unknown individuals used fire-making materials in attempting to burn down the optometry shop of Akbar Pur-Husayni. However, they failed in their objective to burn down the shop, but managed to cause considerable damage. Afterwards, these individuals disappeared.
It should be noted that attacks on homes and places of business of Baha’i countrymen, particularly in Semnan, has greatly increased in recent months. Despite this increase, repeated appeals to officials and authorities to investigate these attacks have resulted in no efforts by responsible offices.

Good to know that there is freedom of religion for the zealots, and that freedom of destruction is open to all Iranians who espouse the finer points of rock-throwing. Iran has come a long way since the White Revolution was overthrown by the Red Revolution. Thank God those who are Baha’i can still get out of the country, and may God help those who cannot. Blessed are the persecuted, for theirs is the kingdom of Heaven.

The Baha’i, who are suffering in Iran as the Jews did the world over, should leave Iran lock, stock and barrel and come to Israel – as did Bahá’u'lláh and Abdu’l-Bahá in the 19th century. They should live their lives in Haifa and Akko near the Baha’i Universal House of Justice and Tomb of the Báb, in an atmosphere of freedom and religious tolerance. Israel is waiting for them!

Iranian Baha’is do not wish to leave Iran as a wholesale population. Iran is a sacred land to all Baha’is because it is the birthplace of their Faith. Iranian Baha’is wish emphatically to support the success of their native land. It would only cause immense satisfaction of the wrong kind if Baha’is there became a population of refugees. It would also encourage further persecution of other Iranian minorities. Just as the Bab and Baha’u'llah never evaded Their antagonizers or avoided persecution, the Baha’is of Iran are committed to the future of Iran, which is described by Baha’u'llah as an immensely glorious thing.
