Mashhad (Persian: مشهد, ‹Mašhad›, literally the place of martyrdom) is the second largest city in Iran and one of the holiest cities in the Shia Muslim world.
Thursday 24 Tir 1389 at 17:42 [15 July 2010]
Hrana News – Two Baha’i citizens, residing in Mashad, have been arrested in order to carry out their court order for prison term.
As noted by Hrana reporters, Nassrin Ghadiri and Sima Rajabian, who had been previously sentenced, by the Khorasan Province Razavi Review Court, to a 2 years limited imprison term, this morning Thursday 24 Tir [15 July 2010], introduced themselves to the Circle of Court Order Implementation, were arrested and transferred to Vakil Abad prison in Mashad.
The files of these two Baha’i citizens, related to their arrest in 1384, had been declared closed. But in keeping with the recent year pressures on Baha’is, the files of these two, along with seven other Baha’is have been resurrected during the past few months. These 9 Baha’i citizens have been sentenced to 2 to 5 years of punitive imprisonment, by the Mashad Revolutionary Court.
It is worth noting that from among these 9 Baha’i citizens, so far Nahid Ghadiri and Davar Nabilzadeh have been transferred to Vakil Abad Prison in Mashad for starting their 5 year prison term.”
